For this blog, I will expand a very key and critical aspect somewhat mentioned in a previous blog that is about how managers need to become leaders to bring real awareness and success to their team.  I will offer a negative truth that managers sometimes focus on & perform in their role.  I will first bring the negative insight many employ and then bring out the real leadership aspect that true leaders do to bring success to their team.  I will first bring the negative aspect for which we need to be aware and will then share how it should be different and bring out the real positive way.

A LEADERSHIP Overcoming Factor in Building Team Unity & Success!
Key Aspect About Be Aware in Your Involvement in Your Team!

Insight #1

I will share an example from a manager that I observed some time ago and this is one example.  Realize that managers in today’s world consider that their job and responsibility is to simply dictate and control your people.  Several of them simply point fingers and verbally control and dictate to their people.

One manager that I observed was standing in a hallway and touching their phone texts and IPOD.  The team was somewhat struggling in a challenging situation.  One member came up to a doorway to chat briefly and discuss with the manager, but the manager did not allow their total communication and all the manager said was focusing on what they were hoping and without even looking and connecting to the team member the manager only said, “do what we are doing”.  Frustrated, the 1 team member turned their head away and walked away.

Some managers today consider that their job is simply to Point fingers and dictate to them.  Realize that this is not true leadership.

Insight #2

True Leaders today are different in that they truly connect with their people, and the leader senses the value of knowing his team members and how they are connecting, communicating and growing together as individuals and as a Team.

From news reports and other current developments, the reader likely recognizes that there are significant differences in the types of people moving into leadership roles today, including within political environments. While the reader may already be aware of this, true leadership remains focused on the organization, the team, and what they are genuinely seeking to accomplish.

There are many leaders today who are committed to real leadership and achieving positive success for their teams, their clients, and the environments they serve. However, some individuals seek to control everything regardless of impact. Many of these individuals will never become truly successful leaders or make a meaningful difference.

These dysfunctional, control-oriented individuals are not suited for leading teams or organizations. They have no real desire to contribute to positive outcomes or to enhance what others are seeking to build. They are not focused on the success of the organization or the environment. Instead, they are focused solely on:

What They Personally Get & Receive!

This is totally dysfunctional and is NOT True Leadership.

I will offer my quote from the end of the Hollywood movie documentary of my life journey entitled “Bring Freedom to Potential”:

“IT IS NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU GET.IT IS ABOUT ARE YOU DOING WHAT IS RIGHT!”

Questions for You as a Team Leader

  1. How do you need to enhance your team’s awareness of these two insights - one to avoid and one to apply?

  2. To what extent must you adapt your leadership application to strengthen both your own and your team’s clarity and enhance true Strategic Clarity?

  3. How must you truly model and enhance clarity around these two insights within your team and help them apply their Neuroscience to ensure true clarity and wisdom for team success?
